Tallest Starflyer ride in the world
Starflyer will be one of Orlando’s newest thrill rides. It will be joining the popular Orlando Eye on International Drive. But, in comparison to the Orlando Eye, it will be 25 feet taller. It will be a total of 425 feet tall. The Starflyer will give people the opportunity to literally have the best seats (swinging seats that is) in the house, and get one of the most spectacular views of the Orlando Skyline. The swings rise 425 feet above ground, and rotate at 360 degrees at approximately 50 mph! They have even coined this ride as “Swings On Steroids”.
Opening May 11, 2018
The Starflyer first got approved in 2015, but is just now finally getting ready to officially be open to the public. It is scheduled to open on May 11, 2018.
Once opened, riders will have one of the most exhilarating swing rides of their lives. Riders will sit in rows of two with many belts holding them in place, leaving their feet dangling freely. The ride will hold 24 riders at a time. The entire tower will be illuminated with rows of LED lights.
And there’s more, ….
The bottom of the tower will have a 3,400 SF building, which will house a bar themed after the ride, a ticketing office for the attraction, a Westgate Resorts timeshare sales office, and also a dual Haagen-Dazs ice cream and Wetzel Pretzels shop.
A few other thrilling rides are currently planned to join the Starflyer. A 600 foot Skyplex is in the works to neighbor the “swings on steroids”. They are estimating for a 2020 opening.
