Which vacation rentals include a grill?

Some vacation rentals, typically single-family homes, have a gas grill for guests to use, this information may be found in the property description. The barbecue is provided as a favor by the owner and is the guest’s responsibility (gas and cleaning). If you rent a condo, the association will usually supply a community charcoal grill, they are typically positioned outside and are not specially cleaned during a transition of guests.

Light my fire: get your propane/charcoal at the local store

All vacation homes with barbecues have a propane tank, which you may exchange for $20 – $25 at a gas station, Walmart, Publix, or Walgreens. We do not refill propane or replace empty containers, so the gas tanks may be empty when you arrive. We cannot pay guests for propane refills, guests are responsible for the barbecue fuel.

The barbecue igniter occasionally fails owing to a dead battery, they are prone to failure. If this is the case, please use a regular lighter instead, but please notify us so that our housekeeping can take care of things during routine maintenance.

We apologize if you find the barbecue in poor condition, Florida weather might be harsh, please notify us so that we can take care of it.

Grilling safety tips

Grilling safety advice for both you and your guests:

• Grills powered by propane or charcoal should only be used outside.
• The grill should be kept well away from the property, deck railings, and under overhanging trees.
• Children and dogs should be kept at least three feet from the grilling area.
• Always keep an eye on your grill.
• Before igniting your gas grill, ensure sure the lid is open.
• Allow the coals to cool completely before disposing of them in a metal container once you’ve finished cooking.
• If you smell gas while cooking, turn off the grill immediately and notify the fire department. Do not attempt to move the grill.
• When the flame on a gas grill goes out, switch it off and wait at least 15 minutes before re-lighting it.
