What is the Jurassic World Houston exhibition?
Step into a world where dinosaurs roam freely. Inspired by the blockbuster films, the Jurassic World Houston exhibition brings the iconic movie to life. As you enter, you’ll be greeted by a towering Brachiosaurus, setting the tone for an adventure filled with wonder and excitement. Each exhibit is meticulously designed to transport you back in time, offering an up-close look at the incredible creatures that once ruled the Earth.
It has now become one of the fastest-selling exhibitions in history since its launch and has welcomed over 8 million visitors. After touring cities around the world, including London, San Diego, Denver, Dallas, Chicago, Philadelphia, Paris, Madrid, Seoul, Chengdu, Guangzhou, Shanghai, Toronto, Atlanta, Sydney, Cologne, and Berlin, this global sensation comes to Houston!
Highlights of the exhibition
One of the main attractions is the lifelike T-Rex, which stands majestically, its eyes following your every move. The level of detail is astonishing, making it feel as though you’ve stepped into the movie itself. Interactive displays, such as the Gyrosphere, allow you to engage with the environment in ways you never imagined. You can also explore the Creation Lab, where you’ll learn about the science behind cloning these magnificent creatures. One of the techniques they use is to extract dinosaur DNA from mosquitoes trapped in amber. Watch as the Indominus Rex gets fed. Her hybrid DNA is a combination of aggressive carnivores like Carnotaurus, T-rex and Raptors with the genome of modern animals such as cuttlefish and tree frogs. They are highly intelligent and extremely dangerous.
For those seeking an even deeper immersion, the virtual reality experience is a must. Slip on the VR headset and find yourself in the midst of Jurassic World, surrounded by dinosaurs that appear almost real. It’s an experience that blends technology and imagination, leaving a lasting impression.
Throughout the exhibition, there are numerous photo opportunities. Whether you’re posing with a Velociraptor or standing in front of the iconic gates, these moments are perfect for capturing and sharing with friends and family.
Educational aspects
Beyond the thrills, the exhibition offers rich educational content. The learning zones provide fascinating insights into paleontology and the biology of dinosaurs. Interactive displays explain the prehistoric era, helping visitors of all ages understand the world of these ancient giants. For those eager to learn more, workshops and talks by experts are available, offering deeper dives into the science and history of dinosaurs.
About the movie Jurassic World
Released in 2015, Jurassic World directed by Colin Trevorrow, is the first film in the Jurassic World trilogy and the fourth overall in the Jurassic Park series. Set 22 years after the original Jurassic Park, the story unfolds on Isla Nublar, where John Hammond’s dream has been realized with a fully functional theme park of cloned dinosaurs. However, chaos erupts when a genetically engineered dinosaur escapes, revealing deeper conspiracies within the park’s staff.
Originally planned for a 2005 release, Jurassic World faced numerous script revisions and delays, finally hitting theaters on June 12, 2015. It received critical acclaim, with many considering it the best sequel in the franchise. The film grossed a staggering $1.6 billion globally, making it the second highest-grossing film of 2015 and, at the time the third highest-grossing film of all time.
The success of Jurassic World led to two sequels: Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (2018) and Jurassic World Dominion (2022). The franchise is set to expand further with Jurassic World 4, scheduled for release in 2025. This continued success underscores the enduring appeal of the Jurassic saga, blending nostalgia with modern cinematic advancements to captivate audiences worldwide.

Ten roarsome dinosaur facts to fascinate kids and adults
Have you noticed that your kids are absolutely obsessed with dinosaurs? Of course, this obsession is nothing new with children or adults, just look at the huge success of the Jurassic film franchise. But what is it exactly about dinosaurs that we all find so fascinating?
The standard answer is because they’re so big, fierce, and, of course, extinct, which makes them so appealing to kids and adults alike. But it’s the unknown and pure wonder about the life of these animals that is most fascinating and leaves us wanting to know more.
Whether you’re a dinosaur fanatic yourself or just on the lookout for some dino facts to share with and impress your little ones, keep reading because we’ve got 10 roarsome dinosaur facts that won’t leave you dino-snoring.
- Dinosaurs were around in the Mesozoic Era or “the Age of Dinosaurs”. The Mesozoic Era is the penultimate era in Earth’s geological history. During this era, there were three different periods, they were called the Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous periods.
- The name Stygimoloch literally means Demon from the River Styx (or Hell). They were small bipedal herbivores with large domed bony heads and a prominent crown of thorns around them.
- The longest dinosaur was over 130-foot-long (40 meters long) – as long as four fire engines! Before 2021, it was thought that Argentinosaurus was the longest dinosaur. It was also the heaviest dinosaur weighing 154.000 lbs. (77 tons), the equivalent of 17 African elephants. Research now suggests that Supersaurus could have been the longest dinosaur.
- The Brachiosaurus is part of a group of a family of gigantic sauropod dinosaurs that includes some of the largest creatures ever to walk the earth.
- The word dinosaur was coined by an English paleontologist. In 1842, Sir Richard Owen came up with this name after he had seen lots of dinosaur fossils being uncovered. He realized that all the fossils were linked in some way and came up with the name dinosaur or dinosauria. Derived from the Greek words deinos, meaning “terrible, horrible, great”, and sauros, meaning “lizard” (basically, he called them horrible lizards and it stuck).
- Tyrannosaurus Rex was one of the largest meat-eating dinosaurs that ever lived. Everything about this ferocious predator, from its thick, heavy skull to its 4-foot-long (1,2-meter-long) jaw, was designed for maximum bone-crushing action.
- The dinosaur with the longest name was the Micropachycephalosaurus, which means tiny, thick-headed lizard! (let’s hope that one doesn’t come up on a spelling test). The smallest dinosaur’s name is actually Yi consisting of only 2 letters, that’s 22 less letters than Micropachycephalosaurus!
- Velociraptors were small, carnivorous dinosaurs from Mongolia. Raptors had sharp serrated teeth and sharp-clawed hands and feet. Each foot carried a large, recurved claw on the second toe used for slashing and pinning prey to the ground.
- Stegosaurus had a brain the size of a walnut. They can be considered the dumbest dinosaur, with a brain only slightly larger than a walnut, measuring just 1,18 inch (3 centimeters) long and only weighing 2,65 oz (75 grams). A newborn human baby actually has a bigger brain than most adult dinosaurs had.
- When an asteroid hit, they became extinct. This one won’t come as a surprise to any dinosaur fan but around 66 million years ago dinosaurs became extinct when an asteroid hit Earth making lots of dust and dirt rise into the air. The dust and dirt blocked the sun and made Earth very cold. The main theory for dinosaur extinction is that once the climate changed dinosaurs could not survive in the cold. However, many scientists believe that because birds are a kind of dinosaur, due to sharing a common ancestor with non-avian dinosaurs, that dinosaurs are, in fact, not actually extinct.
