Universal Studios’ Halloween Horror Nights: So Fun, It’s Scary!

For some, Halloween is as exciting as Christmas. The costumes, the candy, the scary movies—October 31st is their most wonderful time of the year! For fans like this, Universal Studios takes love for Halloween and all that’s scary to another level during Halloween Horror Nights. For 2019, the scary festivities take on an 80s vibe, bringing back to life some of that decade’s scariest movies. 
Here’s all you need to know about this premier event…if you’re brave enough!

The Haunted Houses

While most Halloween attractions have one, maybe two, haunted houses, Universal Studios pulls out all the stops with 10 terrifying attractions. These fear-inducing spots are located throughout the parks in five scare zones. Each haunted house has its own frightening theme, incredible costumes and props and professional scareactors.

  • Ghostbusters
  • Killer Klowns from Outer Space
  • House of 1000 Corpses
  • Depths of Fear
  • Graveyard Games
  • Nightingales: Blood Pit
  • Yeti: Terror of Yukon

Try not to lose your cool traveling through the five scare zones:

  • Zombieland Double Tap
  • Rob Zombie Hellbilly Deluxe
  • Anarch-Cade
  • Vanity Ball
  • Vikings Undead

Many of Universal’s favorite rides are also open during Halloween Horror Nights:

  • Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts
  • Revenge of the Mummy
  • Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit
  • MEN IN BLACK Alien Attack
  • Fast & Furious: Supercharged
  • TRANSFORMERS: The Ride-3D
  • The Simpsons Ride

All this, plus you can enjoy live entertainment, food and merchandise, all tailored to scare the pants off guests. 

Dates and Times

Halloween Horror Nights starts September 6 and runs through November 2, 2019. Hours and dates during those weeks include:

  • 6:30 pm to 1 am: September 6-8, 12-15, 18-22, 25 and October 2 and 29, 
  • 6:30 pm to 2 am: September 26-29; October 3-6, 9-13, 17-20, 23-27 and 30-31; and November 1-2

Tips and Tricks

Because of the incredibly scary nature of the event, Halloween Horror Nights is not recommended for children under the age of 13. Guests are not allowed to wear any costumes or masks. 

For a once-in-a-lifetime experience, splurge on the R.I.P or Private R.I.P tour and get to see all behind-the-scenes secrets. Plus, you get VIP, front-of-the-line privileges for the haunted houses. 

Too scared to think about food? Purchase the quick service dining plan and enjoy access to dining options at all three parks during the event. You can also purchase tickets to the Scareactor Dining Experience and see the horror actors up-close while you dine.

Tickets

You can purchase advance tickets online through tickets.casiola.com. Single-night tickets start at $67.99 plus tax per person. Ticket prices increase for weekend nights and when you buy online, you have to choose a specific date. Guests can also purchase at the gate, but the price for a single-night ticket goes up to $119.99 plus tax per person. 

Multi-night tickets are also available. The Rush of Fear Pass runs $109.99 plus tax per person and is good for most of the September dates. Purchase the Frequent Fear Pass for access to 26 nights or the Frequent Fear Pass Plus for 34 nights of scares. The Frequent Fear Pass is $119.99 and the Frequent Fear Pass Plus starts at $139.99. 

If you really want to get your scare’s worth, opt for the Unlimited Frequent Fear Pass, good for all dates and starting at $259.99. Guests who want to skip the lines can also add an Express Pass to their tickets for an additional fee.
